Mt. Fuji
Private Day Tour
Japan's most iconic summit — from the shores of Kawaguchiko to the Fifth Station viewpoints, a perfect day by private car from Tokyo.
Japan's Sacred Peak, at Your Own Pace
Mt. Fuji sits just 90 minutes from central Tokyo by private car — close enough for a leisurely morning departure, with time to reach multiple viewpoints before returning the same evening. The Fuji Five Lakes region (Fujigoko) offers dramatically different perspectives depending on where you stand: from the mirror-calm surface of Kawaguchiko to the height of the Yoshida or Fujinomiya Fifth Stations at 2,305 metres.
The classic pairing is Chureito Pagoda — a five-storey pagoda set on stone steps above Fujiyoshida, framing Fuji behind it — combined with a leisurely loop of Kawaguchiko's northern shore. Add Oshino Hakkai (eight ponds fed by snowmelt) and the Fuji World Heritage Centre for a genuinely complete day.
With a private driver, you skip the crowds at transit hubs, can stop freely for photographs, and have someone who knows the mountain's seasonal rhythms. Your driver handles all parking and advises on the best viewpoints for the day's weather.
Fuji Through the Year
The iconic shot of Fuji framed by the five-storey pagoda with cherry blossoms in the foreground. Peak window: late March to mid-April. Arrive early morning to beat the crowds and catch soft golden light on the mountain.
The northern shore of Kawaguchiko mirrors Fuji across the water. In late March and early April, cherry trees line the promenade. The combination of blossoms, mountain, and lake is genuinely world-class.
From late April through mid-May, the Shibazakura (moss phlox) festival at Fuji Motosuko covers the hillside in pink and white. A 20-minute detour from Kawaguchiko and unlike anything else in Japan.
Spring mornings offer the clearest skies before haze builds. The mirror reflection of blossoming trees in Kawaguchiko is the most sought-after shot in Japan — your driver knows exactly where to stand and when.

The Subaru Line (Yoshida Fifth Station) opens from late April and the mountain opens for hiking from early July. At 2,305m, the air is cool and views on clear mornings can reach across the Kanto Plain. Non-hikers explore the lava field walks near the station.
Summer weekends bring spectacular fireworks over Kawaguchiko with Fuji as the backdrop — one of Japan's most photographed fireworks events. Ask your driver about scheduling a late departure on festival evenings.
Visiting late June or early July? The Shibazakura fields at Fuji Motosuko may still be in bloom. The hillside covered in pink moss phlox with Fuji rising behind is a rare early-summer sight.
Deep green forests surround the Five Lakes in summer. Lake Yamanakako offers open southern-face views of Fuji. Cooler than Tokyo, the area is a welcome escape from city heat.

October and November transform the shoreline into a tapestry of red and gold. The Momiji Tunnel — a canopy of maple trees — peaks in early November. Fuji above, fire-coloured trees below reflected in the still lake.
The road from Kawaguchiko toward Fujiyoshida is lined with maples that form a vivid corridor of autumn colour. Early morning visits reward with golden light through the canopy and an empty road.
By October, Fuji wears its first dusting of snow while the lakeshore remains in full autumn colour. The contrast — white summit, red and gold shore — is one of Japan's most striking landscape images.
For families, Fuji-Q Highland amusement park sits directly below Fuji. The spectacle of roller coasters against the mountain backdrop is uniquely Japanese and just 45 minutes from Kawaguchiko.

The Diamond Fuji phenomenon occurs when the sun rises or sets precisely at the summit. Peak windows: December and January. Your driver knows the exact viewpoints at Lake Yamanakako for both sunrise and sunset Diamond Fuji.
Winter delivers the clearest, crispest views of Fuji. No haze, no humidity. The snow line descends by December and on calm, clear days the mountain stands in perfect white against a deep blue sky — photography conditions at their absolute best.
On still December and January mornings, Kawaguchiko partially freezes and the reflection of the snow-capped peak in the ice creates a truly rare photograph. Early start required — your driver will arrange accordingly.
Winter is the least-visited season at Fuji. Viewpoints you'd share with hundreds in spring are often yours alone. The Fifth Station road is closed but the lake area is peaceful, photogenic, and deeply serene.

Two vehicles.
One formation.
When the group exceeds what a single vehicle can hold, we don't hand you off to a bus company. We send two — or three — of our own vehicles together, coordinated as a fleet. One lead driver, one group chat, one point of contact. Every vehicle in the convoy is ours. Every driver is ours. That is what makes it different from a chartered bus.
Enquire About Convoy BookingTwo private Alphards in convoy. Ideal for families, small corporate groups, or couples travelling together.
VIP passengers in the Alphard, the rest in the HiAce. Keeps groups together without putting everyone in a bus.
Full group capacity across two HiAces. No one gets separated. Both vehicles depart and arrive together.
Full fleet deployment for large groups. Corporate events, large tour groups, multi-stop itineraries. Custom combinations on request.
Frequently asked questions
How much does a private Mt. Fuji tour cost?
A private Mt. Fuji day tour costs from ¥75,000 per vehicle (Toyota Alphard, 1–4 passengers, half day) or ¥90,000 for a full day. A HiAce for up to 9 passengers is ¥90,000–¥105,000. The price is per vehicle, not per person — a family of four pays the same as a solo traveler.
Is the price per person or per vehicle?
All Hire Taxi Japan prices are per vehicle, not per person. A Toyota Alphard seats 1–4 passengers and a Toyota HiAce seats up to 9, so the per-person cost drops sharply for families and groups. Larger parties can book two or three vehicles in convoy — up to 27 passengers.
When is Mt. Fuji visible?
Mt. Fuji is most reliably visible from November to February, when cold, dry air keeps the skies clear — morning visibility is best year-round. In summer, the mountain is often hidden by haze and afternoon clouds, so an early start greatly improves your chances.
What is the best Mt. Fuji itinerary from Tokyo?
The classic full-day route covers Arakurayama Sengen Park (Chureito Pagoda), Lake Kawaguchi, Oshino Hakkai spring village, and Fuji Subaru Line 5th Station when the road is open. Your driver adjusts the order based on weather and crowds on the day.
Does the Mt. Fuji tour include hotel pickup?
Yes. Your English-speaking driver meets you in the lobby of your hotel in Tokyo (or any address you choose) and returns you door-to-door at the end of the day. Luggage, strollers, and shopping bags travel in the car with you.
Do the drivers speak English?
Yes. All Hire Taxi Japan chauffeurs communicate in English and are licensed professional drivers. They handle navigation, parking, and timing — and share local recommendations — but are drivers rather than licensed tour guides.
How long is the Mt. Fuji tour?
Plan for 10–12 hours. Because the tour is private, the schedule is flexible — you can extend time at any stop, skip others, or ask your driver to reorder the day around weather and crowds.
How do I book or ask a question?
Book online via the Japan Tour Package page on hiretaxijapan.mom, or message us on WhatsApp at +81 70 1265 4460 for a custom plan. We confirm availability and your driver's details within a few hours.
